Firestone RubberCover™ EPDM Liner – Pond Waterproofing
The Firestone RubberCover™ EPDM liner is an extremely durable and flexible synthetic rubber membrane, ideal for the waterproofing and construction of garden ponds, natural swimming ponds, and Koi ponds.
Thanks to the properties of EPDM, it allows for the creation of completely customized ponds, adapting easily to the shape of the excavation, varying depths, walls, and areas intended for aquatic plants.
It is the ideal solution for those who want to build a custom-made pond and are looking for a material that is reliable, elastic, and designed to maintain its properties over time.
Why choose an EPDM liner for a pond?
Unlike more rigid membranes, EPDM is characterized by high elasticity and flexibility. The liner can stretch up to 300%, allowing it to adapt to soil irregularities and the ground movements that can occur over time.
This feature makes it particularly suitable for pond construction, where the liner must follow irregular surfaces, curves, steps, and different depth levels.
Extremely resistant and durable
Firestone RubberCover™ EPDM is designed to offer a long service life and high resistance to external agents.
The membrane has a life expectancy of over 50 years and is extremely resistant to:
- UV rays;
- ozone;
- microorganisms;
- adverse weather conditions;
- temperature fluctuations.
It maintains its physical properties for decades and requires minimal maintenance.
A particularly important feature for a pond, where the membrane remains permanently installed and must ensure the structure remains waterproof over time.
Flexible and easy to install
The RubberCover™ membrane is lightweight, flexible, and easy to work with, features that significantly simplify its installation.
Availability in large sheet sizes also allows, when project dimensions permit, for the pond to be built using a single sheet, reducing or eliminating the need for seams.
High flexibility also facilitates installation in the presence of:
- irregular walls and bottoms;
- different depth levels;
- shelves for aquatic plants;
- pipes and technical passages;
- drains and outlets;
- organic shapes and curves typical of garden ponds.
Stable and chemically inert material
The RubberCover™ EPDM membrane has an inert chemical composition and does not release toxic substances.
In fact, Firestone also indicates this feature for applications intended for rainwater harvesting.
For the construction of a pond, this is a particularly interesting aspect, especially when one wants to create a stable and long-lasting aquatic environment.
Ideal for custom ponds and Koi ponds
The EPDM liner allows one to overcome the dimensional and shape limitations of preformed ponds.
It can be used to create:
Ornamental Pond
To freely create natural shapes, shallow zones, and areas dedicated to aquatic plants.
Koi Pond
For the construction of deeper ponds designed specifically to house Koi carp, with the possibility of integrating drains, pipes, and filtration systems.
Natural swimming ponds and large bodies of water
The ability to work with large-format membranes allows for the waterproofing of even the most complex projects.

Which size to order?
To correctly build an EPDM pond, it is necessary to consider not only the visible surface of the pond, but also the depth, walls, shelves, and an additional amount of liner along the perimeter required for proper anchoring.
For this reason, the size of the liner must be calculated based on the actual dimensions of the excavation.
If you have any doubts about the quantity required or the design of the pond, contact Koi Varese before purchasing: we can help you determine the correct dimensions and the components needed for the construction of your pond.
